With the prices of gas and airline tickets soaring, the weakened dollar versus the Euro and our nation’s uncertain economy, what are your leisure/traveling plans for this summer? (Asked at the Almaden Plaza)
“We’re going to the Midwest to a wedding using frequent flier miles and taking a European cruise in the fall. The prices aren’t too bad.”
Jeannette Grundstrom, 53
Almaden

“We are going to Europe, to Belgium for a family wedding. The dollar is really low and its costing us lots of money, but this only happens once in 10 years.”
Dendar Dynlugol, 53
Almaden
Company manager
“I was going to travel back to Italy, where I lived last year for college, but its too expensive.”
Edgie Scales, 21
Almaden
San Jose State student
“I will be going on a trip to Yosemite for camping. Otherwise, I’ll be working to pay for the gas it takes to get to work.”
Michelle Linde, 23
South San Jose
San Jose State student, Medishare employee
“I actually am traveling. The airline has half price tickets to some places in Europe, but it’s a graduation present and I need to start saving for college."
Kyle Basu, 18
Almaden
Colorado University at Boulder student
“Probably won’t change plans. We will be traveling to Europe in the fall in conjunction with a conference in Italy.”
Greg Drake, 56
Almaden
Business analyst
“I’m fortunate because I live 1 ½ miles from work, which was reduced recently from 30 miles. This has reduced my gas consumption enourmously and allows me the hope that I will be able to fly or drive to San Diego this summer.”
Andy O’Brien, 49
Almaden
Bank manager
“Since I’m new to the South Bay, I’m just learning about the activities in the area and will just do those this summer. I usually do back road trips within about a 200 mile radius, but the extra money I’m spending on gas is taking away those funds.”
