Center Stage Productions presents “Inherit the Wind” the classic drama based on the famous Scopes Monkey trial that captured the Nation’s attention and sparked the debate over Creationism vs. Darwinism. We invite you to revisit this timeless classic as it comes to live on our Willow Glen stage. All performance will take place at The Center for Spiritual Living, 1195 Clark Street in San Jose. Lyric Theater presents Oscar Straus’s “The Chocolate Soldier” at The Montgomery Theater for a limited engagement. This production is based upon George Bernard Shaw’s “Arms and the Man”, and will mark the premiere of a new performing edition by Don Tull. With the enchanting waltz “My Hero”, catchy tunes and ensembles, this comic opera has been extremely popular in both the United Kingdom and the United States. Shaw called it “an unauthorized parody” of Arms and the Man, until he saw how popular the work became! Come join the fun! San Jose Youth Symphony Bon Voyage featuring Jon Nakamatsu.Yair Samet and the San Jose Youth Symphony (SJYS) celebrate their Spain Tour 2005 with a Bon Voyage Gala featuring renowned pianist Jon Nakamatsu. The fabulous evening includes a special performance by Mr. Nakamatsu of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2. CineLux Theatres invites kids and their families to spend summer mornings at the movies for their annual Free Family Film Festival. The festival kicks-off with shows starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Seating is first-come-first-serve. Guests will enjoy a variety of G and PG-rated films. Participating theatres include CineLux’s Tennant Station Stadium Cinema at 750 Tennant Avenue in Morgan Hill and the Plaza 4 Theatre at 2501 Winchester Boulevard in Campbell. The Children’s Discovery Museum celebrates the joy and diversity of American music in this hands-on, ears-on exhibit created by the Boston Children¹s Museum in partnership with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Get down with different musical styles from classical to country, hip-hop to rock. Step up to the podium and lead The Boston Pops symphony, jam with cool cats in a “jazz club” or become a hip-hop DJ and play percussion on a “city street.” Front a big band or strum guitars on a country music bus tour. This fun exhibit includes video interviews with famous musicians ranging from Yo-Yo Ma to James Taylor to provide real-life stories from a musician’s life. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Sacred Heart Community Service needs teen or adult volunteers to tutor children grades 4 through 8 in mathematics, reading and computer skills, as well as accompanying students on weekly field trips at the Academic Summer Day Camp program. Tutors must be at least high school juniors and 16 years old. Adults and college students are welcome. High school sophomores may join with a recommendation letter from their high school principal. Camp is scheduled Monday, June 27 – Thursday, July 28 and runs from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each weekday. Tutors are asked to volunteer one full week or one day per week. History Park San Jose will present “Macau - Universal Heritage,” a photographic exhibition of 52 vibrant images featuring Macau’s historical architecture. The exhibit is open Tuesdays through Sundays, 12 to 5 p.m. The photographs focus on buildings and sites presented by the People’s Republic of China to UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in a proposal for Macau’s classification as a World Heritage site.

The San Jose Jaycees Car Wash is taking place at the Shell Gas Station on 1103 Curtner Avenue in San Jose from 9a.m. to 5 p.m.the San Jose Jaycees raise money to run projects and better serve your community.
