Time to get your groove on and head on over to Willow Glen’s 13th annual Dancin’ On The Avenue streetfest. Juneteenth in the Park Festival: The Juneteenth in the Park Festival is a cultural event that recognizes the emancipation of slaves in the United States in 1863. Although the festival is celebrated annually in more than 200 cities across the country, San Jose is the host to the largest celebration in the nation. Kepler Learning Center will host the San Jose Autism June meeting at their facility, 305 Piercy Road, San Jose at 7 p.m. This outreach event will offer the opportunity for parents of Autistic children to meet and network. Most classes are from 9 a.m. to noon and are designed for children aged 5 – 7. The cost is $30. The Nature Navigators session is for children age 7 – 10 and runs from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. the fee is $40. Children’s Musical Theater celebrates 40th anniversary with free party in the park: CMT will host a free “Party in the Park” from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Plaza de Cesar Chavez in downtown San Jose. Open to anyone and everyone, this event includes performances by CMT members , a sneak preview of the 2008/09 CMT season, multi media entertainment, children’s games and an enormous cake to feed the expected 3000 people attending the event.

Summer of Service at Children’s Discovery Museum is a great way for youth to enjoy their summer while serving the community. Youth grades 7 through 10 participate on one of five teams, each with its own theme of service. These themes include community outreach, early childhood education, environment and ecology, media and museum, and leadership development. Participants work in shelters, senior centers, and development centers; serve as role models and mentors for pre-school aged children while assisting classroom teachers; perform restoration projects throughout the county; volunteer in Children’s Discovery Museum while building media and technology skills; and build leadership skills while planning special projects and facilitating many important aspects of the program. Almaden Valley Counseling Service presents the Cooperative Parenting and Divorce course ”How to Parent as a Team when you are No Longer a Couple.” Cooperative Parenting classes are for parents who are either divorced or in the process of divorcing. The class focuses on reducing parental conflict and addresses the factors that influence children’s post-divorce adjustment. This 7-week course will be held from 7:15 – 9:15 p.m. at 6529 Crown Blvd., Suite D, in San Jose. The cost is $145 and is limited to one parent from a co-parenting family. Children's Drawing & Painting Classes - art classes for children 7-12 years old are offered in Nelly Rouhani's house in Almaden. Classes are on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. with a maximum 4:1 child to teacher ratio. Children will learn about the fundamentals of drawing and paint using various media. Clay classes for adults. New handbuilding ceramics classes are forming now. These small, relaxing clay classes are held on Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m., and Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11 a.m. The fee includes instructions, clay, glazes, use of tools, and kiln firings. Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley (JFS) will host the first ever Silicon Valley Duck Race at Vasona Lake County Park, 333 Blossom Hill Road in Los Gatos. A festival filled with entertainment, food and games will kick-off the event, followed by the duck race where 10,000 individually numbered rubber ducks will pour from a dump truck into a creek at Vasona Lake County Park and race into Vasona Lake. The top twenty winners of the race will have the opportunity to win one of several great prizes, including the chance to win $1,000,000. Proceeds from the Duck Race will benefit JFS and other local non-profits. Santa Clara High School Class of 1968 Reunion. This event is open to any attendee of the school from it’s inception up through the Class of 1981. Our event, “The Panther Festival” – is named in honor of the school’s mascot until it changed to “Bruins” in 1981- and it will include a BBQ picnic and music performance to be held on Jun. 14, at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, CA.
