Beyond the Score® is ideal not only for classical music aficionados, but also for newcomers who want the excitement of a fresh, multi-media concert format. The first half of the concert uses an actor and narrator, rich visual images, and musical illustrations by the orchestra, all to explore the creative context of Stravinsky's revolutionary The Rite of Spring. After intermission, the orchestra performs the full work for listeners who can now bring a fresh and lively understanding to this musical experience. Beyond the Score® adds depth and theatricality to the concert experience, but keeps the music intact. Martin West, Conductor. All performances held in the California Theater.
