It’s a shame how the city council spends our money

Editor,
Although San Jose has had a deficit for the past five or six years, our city council gave themselves raises one last time.

I realize the mayor and city council members work long hours, but so do several other people in San Jose. And, I realize a high salary would attract more professionals to pursue a government position.

However, when was the last time the San Jose police and fire departments received increased salaries? Journalists inform us San Jose is considered one of the safest big cities in the United States, but journalists have also informed us that San Jose needed more policemen and women.

It’s our money and it’s a shame how it is spent.
