Michael Chen wins Almaden Valley Art & Wine Festival logo contest
The Almaden Valley Women's Club has announced the winner of its annual Art & Wine Festival logo design contest. The winner, Michael Chen, is a senior at Leland High School in the Almaden Valley. His winning logo will appear on festival merchandise and promotions, street banners and signage throughout Almaden and surrounding areas. The Almaden Valley Women's Club presented Michael with a $100 check during the logo contest award ceremony on May 4.
Michael moved to the United States from Taiwan three years ago. He began taking art instruction in high school and currently studies under the direction of New Almaden art instructor Mimi Fujii. Michael also enjoys listening to music and playing guitar and piano. He is considering attending University of California, Davis.
Honorable mention awards were given to one student from each of the other Almaden Valley schools, which submitted logo contest entries. These awards were given to Nithin Hampole of Almaden Country School, Trang Nguyen of Bret Harte Middle School and Scott Healy of Castillero Middle School.
