What can you do to protect your vehicle and its contents?
The San Jose Police Department Auto Theft Unit invests two basic types of crimes: vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts. To help prevent vehicle thefts and vehicle burglaries, the department suggests:
- Park your car in a well lighted place
- Never leave car keys in your car
- Always lock your car
- Get motion detector lighting for porch and garage areas
- Use visible deterrents, such as a steering wheel locking device
- Don’t leave anything valuable visible
