Get ready for Summer Reading Celebration

Vineland’s Summer Reading Celebration is just around the corner. Starting June 17 for eight weeks, read for fun and prizes. Join Mr. K and Miss Nancy Tuesday, June 20 at 2 p.m. for an afternoon of stories, music, and magic.

Book clubs welcome new members
Did you know Vineland Branch has four, adult book discussion groups? A Mystery Book Club, SciFi Book Club, Evening Book Discussion Group, and Senior Book Discussion Group. Each group meets once a month, and visitors are always welcome to join the lively and wide-ranging discussions. Discover new authors, titles, and related tie-ins as plays and movies as you share views with our book groups.

Events
- Please note: the Friends’ big book sale as been shifted from Saturday, May 6 to Saturday, June 10. Installation of new check-in equipment necessitated the change.

- Science Fiction buffs, we have a book club for you! On Saturday, May 13 at 2 p.m., Michael Crichton’s “Timeline” will be discussed. Group meets the second Saturday of every month.

- The Adult Mystery Book Club will meet on Wednesday, May 10 at 6:45 p.m. The book under discussion will be Jill Paton Walsh’s “A Presumption of Death.” All mystery fans are invited to attend the second Wednesday of each month.

- The Evening Book Discussion Group will meet Tuesday, May 16 at 6 p.m. and discuss Marilynne Robinson’s novel “Gilead.” They meet the third Tuesday of each month.

- Senior Book Discussion Group (50+) meets Thursday, May 25 at 10:15 a.m. to delve into Louise Erdrich’s “The Antelope Wife.” They meet the fourth Thursday of each month.

- The Teens Reach meeting is Friday, May 12 at 4 p.m. for teens ages 13-18. Community service time is earned. Light refreshments are served.

- The ESL Conversation Club is held every Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. in Study Room A. This one-hour session is a great way to practice English and to make friends at the library. No pre-registration required.

- Family Storytime is held on Saturdays at 11 a.m. in library’s children’s area.

- Chinese/English Storytime will be presented in the children’s area on Wednesday, May 3 and May 17 at 7 p.m.

- Toddler Storytime (ages 24-35 months) is 10:15 a.m. Fridays and Preschool Storytime (ages 3-5 years) is 11:15 a.m. These storytimes are held in the children’s area.

- Storytime Express, a 15-minute storytime for preschoolers, is held in the children’s area every Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

Vineland Branch Library is located at 1450 Blossom Hill Road. The library will be closed Sunday and Monday, May 28 and 29 for the holidays. Regular hours are: Mondays 2 p.m.-7 p.m.; Tuesdays – Wednesdays 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Thursdays-Saturdays 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sundays 1-5 p.m. For questions, please call 808-3000 during business hours.
