Almaden girls receive commendations
 |
Councilmember Nancy Pyle, along with Mayor Ron Gonzales presented commendations to two Almaden girls, Meredith Hinz and Caryn Hreha, at the May 3 City Council meeting for donating ten inches of their hair to Locks of Love, an organization that provides hairpieces to children suffering from medical hair loss. Shown from L to R, Gonzales, Dan Hinz, Phil Hreha, Teri Hreha, Anna Hreha, Almaden Times Executive Editor Julie Davis Berry, Meredith Hinz, Caryn Hreha, and Pyle, who praised the Almaden Times for “looking to catch people doing good deeds.”
Pyle, a former teacher, went on to say, “The Almaden Times ran articles about two very special young ladies who did something special. They read about Locks of Love, which I hadn’t heard about until reading the articles. That group takes donated hair and turns it into wigs so that kids who have had cancer or some other illness of that nature can wear something other than stocking caps on their heads. I thought that was so worthy of a mention or measure. A lot of this praise goes to a newspaper looking for good stories and to their families who are here.” |
