The “Hooray for Hollywood” Snow Ball Fashion Show, presented by the Almaden Valley Counseling Service Auxiliary, delighted one and all while raising funds for the Almaden Valley Counseling Service.

The old-fashioned charm of Hotel Valencia, adorned with tropical citrus and floral arrangements by Bloomster’s, provided an ideal backdrop for this tribute to the glamour of the silver screen.

No detail was overlooked in creating an award-winning event. In the outside courtyard, silent auction items were accented with black velvet pillows, top hats and golden statuettes, while rose petals lined the red-carpeted entryway. In the foyer, small linen-covered tables showcased theme packages such as “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” complete with a set of pearls, candles and the DVD. Within, a cardboard Oscar statuette stood in all his glory, flanking the runway while the famous Hollywood sign shimmered on the rear wall.

Theme music and signature styles brought films like “Car Wash,” “Pretty Woman” and the “Spy Who Shagged Me” to life. However, it was the models aged 2 through 18 who evoked smiles, joy and applause from an appreciative crowd. Through their stylish poses, wardrobes and props, these “movie stars” made movie magic while aiding the Almaden Valley Counseling Service (AVCS).

Past and present AVCS Executive Directors Rocki Kramer and Matt Osment were dazzled by the star quality of the auxiliary’s “Hooray for Hollywood” fashion show.

For 26 years, the AVCS has promoted personal growth, positive family relationships and emotional well being through its counseling and educational services. With an emphasis on youth, they also provide counselors on school campuses, including Almaden elementary, middle and high schools.

“AVCS is one of the finest services that we offer parents,” said Simonds Elementary School Principal Linda Kakes.

“Having someone trained to interact with children is crucially important to their well-being.” Castillero Middle School Principal Sue Walker agrees. “Having a trained professional available to listen and help a young person sort through their emotions is a valuable resource for us,” she said.

To contact the AVCS, call (408) 997-0200, or visit their Web site at www.avcounseling.org.
