Councilmember Pyle hosts second annual District 10 Budget and Neighborhood Forum this Saturday
Local residents invited to provide input and feedback
San Jose City Councilmember Nancy Pyle will be hosting the second annual District 10 Budget and Neighborhood Forum on Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Almaden Winery Community Center (5370 Chambertin Drive).
Councilmember Pyle stated, “Last year I received some great feedback from residents regarding the areas of the budget they felt were most important to our district. This year I hope to hear from an even greater number of residents through our district’s annual budget forum.”
On March 9, Mayor Reed released his Draft Budget Message for City Council approval. The purpose of the budget message is to provide guidance to the city manager while he prepares the Draft Budget in May. On May 1, the city manager will release his Draft Proposed Budget based on these recommendations. Councilmember Pyle is hosting the second annual District 10 Budget and Neighborhood Forum to ensure that District 10 residents have a chance to weigh in on the budget process. Residents in attendance at the forum will receive a brief overview of the budget process and the city manager’s proposal by Deputy City Manager Mark Linder. Following this presentation, Strong Neighborhoods Manager Laura Lam and District 10 Chief of Staff Leland Wilcox will lead a discussion and priority-setting session with the forum attendees, allowing participants to highlight their concerns and areas of importance in the proposed budget.
Councilmember Pyle stated, “Shaping and providing feedback on the City’s annual budget is a critical aspect of my job where I can make a substantial impact. I want the residents of our District to be active participants in this process and I encourage anyone who takes an interest in our City and its services to attend my upcoming
forum.”
