Street Talk by Carol Rosen
If you could do anything in the world, what would your dream job be and why?
(Asked at Albertsons, Meridian and Redmond)
“Doing what I do now, taking care of the household. I don’t find it as mundane as people might imagine. It’s a pretty executive job because you have to execute everything yourself.”
Andrea Roig, 35ish
Almaden
Housewife
“It would probably be child psychology because I think kids need lots of help. After all, they can’t choose their own parents.”
Susie Owens, 46
Hollister
Receiver, Albertsons
“I want to be an electrician. I’ve wanted to do that since I was a little kid. I’m trying to go to school and plan to attend Evergreen Valley College next semester.”
Jose Negrete, 20
East San Jose
Grocery clerk, Albertsons
“I kind of like the job I have now. I think if I was offered any job, I’d stick with the one I have now. I get to meet lots of interesting people.”
Brandon Partin, 31
Cambrian
Pepsi salesman
“I want to be a foreign diplomat. I plan to major in international relations in college (hopefully at NYU or Washington University in St. Louis). I’ve been overseas and enjoyed watching people interact with each other. I want to learn more about other people and their cultures.”
Christina Carey, 17
Almaden
Student, junior at Leigh High
“I would love to work for the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) as a molecular and microbiologist, doing research.”
Unbareen Asgar, 28
Almaden
Teacher, San Jose City College (microbiology) and Evergreen Valley College (human heredity)
“I really love music. I think my dream job would be to be the personal assistant to Stevie Wonder. I just love him.
I’ve been a gospel singer all my life. I made my first 45-rpm record at 4 years old and two albums when I was 8 and 10 years old. I also appeared on a television program hosted by Pat Robertson, who also ran for president. I still go to church and sing.”
Laura Page, 46
Almaden,
Homemaker
“Something involving books and/or little children. I love little kids. I also love books and I like small animals too.
I’d rather have a job that leaves me happy and content rather than make lots of money and be unhappy. I’ve been in jobs where there’s just too much stress.”
Suzanne Roehr, 40ish
Almaden,
Between jobs
