Longtime New Almaden resident Dorothy Minkel dies at 86
Almaden native Dorothy Minkel, passed away peacefully on April 10 surrounded by her family. She was a longtime native of New Almaden. Many knew Dorothy from her years working in the New Almaden Post office with her longtime friend Agnes, according to her granddaughter Danielle Minkel.
“Anyone who came to know her was blessed to have had her touch their lives with her warm smile and kind heart,” said Danielle. “She was the best. There was no one like her.”
Dorothy was a member of the Santa Clara Cattlewomen's Association and the California Cattlewomen's Association.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Bud Minkel, her son Mike and his children Danielle and Michael, her other son Bill and his wife Anita and their children Jeff, Bernadette and Anna. She also is survived by her nephew Joe Lattuada, brother-in-law Bob Nave and nephews Bobby, Eddie, Lennie and David Nave as well as by eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. A service was held on April 17. The family requests donations be made to the local Parkinsons Foundation in Dorothy’s name.
