Opera San José presents Puccini’s breathtaking blockbuster, “Madame Butterfly”. Eight performances are scheduled at the California Theatre, 345 South First Street in downtown San José. A bride at 15, single mother at 16, dead at 18, young Cio-Cio-San is crushed by ignorance and selfishness. Loyal, obedient, and utterly faithful, she never waivers in her devotion to her husband, even when it is clear to all others that he has deserted her.
