Suspicious bag blown up in front of federal building

A suspicious package was found in front of the federal building at First and San Carlos Streets by a security guard on Thursday, April 13 who quickly alerted authorities. According to San Jose Police Department representative Enrique Garcia a bag with a note was discovered which prompted a police response. The SJPD along with the ATF took an x-ray of the bag and couldn’t determine what was in the bag so they “rendered it safe” (which in laymen terms means they blew it up.) The contents were then taken to a lab to be examined. “We was no indication that the bag contained an explosive,” according to Garcia.
