Girl Scout to put on comedy fund-raiser this Friday to benefit young adults with autism

Leland High School senior Lauren Drygas is working toward the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a senior scout can earn. Her project for the award is a comedy show fund-raiser, scheduled for Friday, April 20. The event is described as a fun evening of improvisational comedy for families and children 10 years and older.

Lauren volunteers twice weekly at The Morgan Center in San Jose, bringing art activities to young adults with autism. “The Morgan Center is a place filled with caring counselors and many wonderful adults who benefit from the opportunity to explore creative expression and positive social interaction,” said Lauren.

Proceeds from the comedy show will fund the purchase of mounting and framing materials for an exhibit of artwork at Valley Medical Center. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, 5151 Carter Avenue. Cost is $10 per person. To register for the event, contact Lauren Drygas, elemdee07@yahoo.com or scoutmaster Jennifer Moyen-Logan, at (408) 268-8074, or by e-mail at jlogan1@pacbell.net.
