Have you ever been tacky?
Tacky Luncheon and decidedly non-tacky fashion show
Let's face it, ladies, most of us would rather be caught dead than tacky. However, for the second year in a row the ladies of the Episcopal Church in Almaden (commonly known as ECA) are making tacky the in thing to be.
The event will be held Tuesday, April 27 at the Episcopal Church In Almaden, 6581 Camden Ave., San Jose. It starts at 11:30 a.m.
The price for the luncheon is $10. Guests are asked to bring a salad for six, wear your tackiest clothes and come have a great time. Everyone is welcome.
Proceeds from the luncheon will once again benefit the Diocese of Muhabara in Uganda. Last year the luncheon raised enough money to literally raise the roof on the Women's Building there. This year the ladies hope to be able to send enough money to add water and electricity. The Women's Building is used as a place to train women to become breadwinners as menders and bakers, as well as gathering place.
All those attending last year had a wonderful time. They had so much fun and were so tacky that the fashion police were required to quell some disturbances. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Following the luncheon, The Unicorn Thrift Shop, located at the corner of Almaden and Redmond Avenues, will present an upscale fashion show to prepare us all for an ocean cruise. The Unicorn Shop raises funds for Eastfield Ming Quong, which is a leading provider of mental health and social services for children and families.
So remember, Tuesday, April 27, dress tacky (you can do it if you try!), bring a salad for six and come share in a great time, a delicious lunch, and a showing of elegant fashions.
Please RSVP by April 20 to either Mary Leal at (408) 268-0230 or Sandie Mueller at (408) 997-1642. Checks for $10 payable to ECA can be mailed ahead of time, or may be paid at the door.
