The Bay Area is experiencing record periods of rain this spring. How is this affecting you and your family?
(Asked at Via Valiente Plaza)

“I'm just trying to maintain a positive outlook. We always need rain and it really helps the [air] pollution. I do feel sorry for people with homes that are sliding down the hillside. Actually, when the sun does come out, it makes everything that much prettier.”

Sandy Fong, 40ish
Almaden
Homemaker

“The rain makes me appreciate blue skies when they finally come. The forecast today was rain off and on. I went running this morning and the rain stayed off until I got halfway around the lake and then it rained 'on' again.”

Brenda Selness
Almaden
Office manager for a law firm

“It's terrible. It's been difficult for everyone! We do get these little breaks of sunshine that are too few and far between, but we can't control the weather.”

Michelle Pricolo, 52
Almaden
Homemaker

“My girl's softball games keep getting cancelled. They've only played three games and usually they've played at least six by now. The weekends are ‘majorly’ soggy and our activities seem to be limited because of the rain. We typically go shopping at the mall or make sure the house is clean.”

Annemarie Giovannetti, 40ish
Almaden
Homemaker

“I haven't been working. Equipment operators can't work in the mud. I'm waiting for it to dry out so I can get back to work. I'm getting very tired of the rain."

Ken Anzelone, 48
Almaden
Equipment operating engineer

“The good is that it keeps things fresh and clean. The bad is that it's infringing on my running and hiking. But since I work at the Almaden Valley Athletic Club, I can work out there. My family hasn't been depressed, but my children miss going to the park after school and everybody's a little stir crazy. But soon enough everyone will be complaining about the heat.”

Karen Luff, 40
Almaden
Almaden Valley Athletic Club

"I'm from the Midwest. This is nothing. There, you have gray days that go on forever. There's no snow to shovel here.”

Julie Cardona
Almaden
Part-time graphic designer

"I guess that sometimes the rain can affect your attitude, and I try to have fun and play sports, but the rain is interfering with that. Normally I pitch with my dad three times a week and right now it's down to once a week. In softball, we've had two practices cancelled, and the games start in a month."

Lindsay Truan, 13
Almaden
Eighth grader at Bret Harte Middle School
