Hospice of the Valley hosts ‘City Slickers’ western gala

Hospice of the Valley, the oldest community-based, nonprofit hospice serving Santa Clara County since 1979, hosts its 26th annual western gala, “City Slickers,” at 6 p.m., Friday, May 19 at The Summit Center on Fourth Street in downtown San Jose.

Set in a stunning western-themed backdrop, the evening includes premium wine tasting, an elegant dinner, music, silent and live auction. Serving as this year’s master of ceremonies is longtime supporter Brian Adams of Orloff/Williams & Co. and KLIV/KRTY radio. Funds raised will go toward programs and services for quality end-of-life care and bereavement programs for adults, children and families facing life-limiting illnesses.

“We’re excited to bring our event to The Summit Center in downtown San Jose to accommodate our gala guests,” said Beth Williams, director of development for Hospice of the Valley. “Event sponsors, items for the silent and live auctions, and donations are still welcomed and appreciated, as our goal is to exceed the $160,000 raised last year,” added Beth.

“We have a spectacular evening and program planned for our western gala,” said Sally Adelus, executive director of Hospice of the Valley. “Guests will have an opportunity to be the highest bidder on auction items from Tiffany & Co. to weeklong trips to Kona, Hawaii and Mazatlan, Mexico, as well as a variety of premium wines, golf packages, and more.”

“Returning as ‘Texas Tycoon’ sponsors are Hitachi Data Systems of San Jose and the Kirkorian Family Foundation of Campbell,” said Pam Williams, HOV board president.

Western gala tickets: $150 per person. Sponsorship opportunities available. For tickets and sponsorship information, visit www.hospicevalley.org; call Beth Williams at 408.947.1233 or bwilliams@hospicevalley.org.
