Last week there was a news story on the radio that a group of people in San Francisco wanted to name a new sewage treatment plant after George W. Bush. What do you think would be appropriate to name after our current president? (Asked at Almaden Center)
“I think the sewage treatment plant would be the most appropriate. That’s [the sewage] something you just want to go away, and with an item like that it’s important to have a system in place that really works.”

We need to respect the people we have elected to office. I guess a monument or a bridge, hopefully no one will blow it up.”
Udso Haddad, 48

“That’s a good question. I would think a memorial for the lives that have been lost in Iraq.”
Bill Wilson, 59
Almaden
Correctional health care administrator
“I love the idea [of the sewage treatment plant]. I have no problem with it.”
Richard Royal, 78

“I think that’s ridiculous. I don’t think we should name anything after him except higher deficits, worse economy and an intractable war."
Hank Winkenwerder, 50

Physical therapist
“Not an airport, maybe a bridge to nowhere. There’s really nothing suitable for that man.”
Margie McMahon, 65

Homemaker/retired nurse
“Not a sewage plant. I wouldn’t, he has served our country for all these years, naming a sewage plant after him would not be politically correct. I wouldn’t name anything after him. I don’t like him.”
Dorlean Kirtley, 60

“Loser, incompetent, criminal, thief. He robbed the happiness from our country. He’s forced many people to go on anti-depressants because they have lost their jobs and/or their homes.”
Mary Hamid, 53

“That’s a tough question. Libraries have been done to death. I guess a civic center somewhere in Texas.”
Stephen Conner, 50

“I don’t think we should name anything after him.”
