Almaden Area Police Report

3/23, Traffic Enforcement

Almaden Expressway and Coleman Avenue

Traffic teams conducted a TARP (Traffic Accident Reduction Program) selective enforcement at the above location in response to a traffic complaint. 54 citations were written by 5 officers for crossing a divider and other various violations.

3/24, Armed Robbery/Carjacking

1200 block of Blossom Hill Rd./5900 block of Vista Loop

Officers assisted robbery detectives conducting an attempt to locate/probation search for a carjacking suspect. The first suspect was located along with some of the property that was stolen. The second suspect was located a short time later and also arrested. The remaining stolen property was also recovered. The investigation is still ongoing.

3/25, Coroner's Case

Camelia Drive

Fire paramedics from Station #22 responded to the above location regarding a possible dead body. The 74 year-old female was not breathing and pronounced dead at 1336 hours. Officers responded to the scene and made contact with the doctor and coroner's office.

3/26, Injury Collision

Camden Avenue/Graystone Lane

An injury collision occurred on Camden Avenue at the T-intersection with Graystone Lane. Officers Johnson responded to the intersection, stabilized the scene and set up traffic control. During the investigation, they learned the following facts. Vehicle #1, occupied by two male Leland High School students was traveling northbound on Camden at an extremely high rate of speed. They were enroute to attend the funeral of their fellow classmate who was the victim of the homicide last weekend when they struck the left wheelbase of a SCV water district van (vehicle #2). It was determined by the tires' skid marks that vehicle #1 was traveling at approximately 72-75 miles per hour at impact. Driver #1 was issued a citation for “unsafe speed”. The two students and lone male driver of the van were transported to local hospital emergency rooms for treatment of their injuries.

3/29, Suspicious Circumstances/Multiple School Lockdowns

Larinda/Leigh

A female jogger reported to 911 operator via cell phone seeing a young male student holding a handgun. Police responded to the area and were unable to locate. Communications notified the area schools of the call as a precaution. The school officials activated a Code Red at Leigh High School and a Code Blue at Union Middle, Noddin School, Lone Hill School, Alta Vista School and Carlton School. The police were not immediately advised of this action but were alerted at approximately 0810 hours. Subsequent follow-up was being conducted at Union Middle School when a TABS officer brought in a truant student that matched the description of the suspect. It was discovered that this subject was in possession of a soft pellet gun which resembles a silver semi-automatic handgun earlier and had left it at a friends house. The gun was recovered and booked into safe keeping at SJPD Property Room.
