Rebuttal to ‘Thanks for exposing principal’s deceit’

I am writing in response to the letter to the editor in the March 16 edition of the Almaden Times regarding Los Alamitos Principal Lisa Gonzales by a parent at our school.

While I will admit that the letter to parents by our principal in our weekly newsletter on sending sick children to school to gain funds for the day was perhaps an error in judgment, I would think that as adults we could look past what was written and ask ourselves WHY it was written and what the intent of it truly was.

A frustrated administrator wrote something that maybe should not have been published to the parent community.

I, myself, was concerned about it being written, but I am appalled by the continuous SLAMMING that is being printed in letters to the editor.

There are two sides to every story and as a parent at Los Alamitos who works as a volunteer and deals with this principal, I take offense to letters that have been written and published. Our children are not being mistreated and it’s slanderous to say so. I’d say that Dr. Gonzales’ comments in the newsletter reflected her concern about not getting adequate funding and was not meant to be deceitful, but instead was her truthful frustration in print.

Turn off the lights to save the district money

Editor,
It does amaze me when I pick up the newspaper each day and read about various school districts having financial problems and seeking ways to reduce their costs. Some of these reductions include cutting out vital staff members and very successful programs.

That same day I can wake up at 1 a.m. in the morning and see that once again Leland High School has left those new very bright lights in the playing field area on. I do not know what these lights cost per hour, however 11 lights that put out enough light that they shine into my bedroom at night cannot be cheap.

Perhaps some attention to the basics, such as turning off the lights when finished, could help reduce the overhead.
