Leigh S.O.S. Club to hold fashion show
The S.O.S Club at Leigh high school will hold its third annual fashion show to benefit the Princess Project on April 2 at 7 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria.
The Princess Project serves Bay area high school girls who might not otherwise be able to afford a prom dress and accessories. Most of the dresses and accessories are free. The project allows those with dresses they no longer want or wear to recycle them for those who otherwise could not afford to go to their high school prom.
Tickets for the show are $7 each or free with a dress donation. There will be a raffle.

San Jose Schools recognized for eScrip funding efforts
Eleven San Jose school organizations have been highlighted for their participation in the eScrip fundraising program. These groups include St. Christopher School, Leland High School Boosters, St. John Vianney School, Noddin Home & School Club, Presentation High School, Willow Glen High School, Archbishop Mitty High School, Bret Harte Booster Club and Notre Dame High School.
Their successful participation in the five-week Safeway 10 percent Back to Schools program has secured each group a $1,000 bonus in addition to their program earnings.
“Having this many top schools from San Jose make the top 200 cut is quite impressive,” said Joanne Remillard, executive vice president for eScrip. “The combined efforts of these 11 organizations, has brought $338,272 in eScrip merchant and manufacturer contributions forward in support of their school programs in 2008. The volunteers who lead the charge at each of these school sites should be commended for their hard work and dedication—it is their effort that ensures success at a time when funding for school programs is critical,” she said.
In San Jose, 380 groups participate in the eScrip Program and over $1,042,525 was raised in 2008 by these organizations. These funds are being used to support valuable programs such as science, sports, art, music, extra-curricular and core programs. Now, more than ever, schools are in need of community partnership opportunities like eScrip, in order to maintain the excellence in education they seek to deliver.
About eScrip:
Administered by Electronic Scrip Inc., the eScrip program delivers loyalty programs that bring retailers, manufacturers and service providers forward in support of the education of youth. School families participate by linking their grocery club card, credit and debit cards to the school of their choice. As these families shop at brick and mortar and online merchants, a percent of their purchase is credited to their selected school each month. To date, the eScrip program has generated more than $220 million in merchant contributions to over 40,000 schools and organizations across the country. For more information, visit www.escrip.com.
