“1964”…The Tribute will be appearing at the Center for the Performing Arts from 8pm-10pm . Considered the premiere Beatles Show in the World, this production takes the audience on a musical journey to an era in rock history that will live in all of our hearts forever. Choosing songs from the pre-Sgt. Pepper era, “1964” recreates a live Beatles concert , with period instruments, clothing, hairstyles and on-stage banter. Notably, on January 10, 2003, “1964” performed at a sold out show at Carnegie Hall in New York, the first time in nearly 40 years that the music of the Beatles was re-created in that setting. SJMA Musicians a' la Carte Winter Classical Program presents the Silicon Valley Woodwind Quintet performing at 2 p.m. Comprised of flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French horn, this group was created by members of the San Jose symphony in 1984. Join the Mission Chamber Orchestra Woodwind Quartet as they participate in the Triton Museum's Sunday Showcase , from 2pm - 4 pm at the Triton Art Museum in Santa Clara. The Mission Chamber Orchestra Woodwind Quintet will perform Mozart's Quintet in C minor , Ferenc Farkas' Ancient Dances , some American rags , and other favorites. South Bay Guitar Society will present a sneak preview of "Platero y Yo." This show will be presented in its entirety in April, but Sunday Showcase attendees will get a close-up preview when guitarist Michael Bautista performs. Campbell's Heritage Theater , 1 West Campbell Avenue, Campbell presents The Count Basie Orchestra at 7 p.m. Regarded as an “American Institution” by music connoisseurs, “Count” Basie leapt into the middle of the Big Band era as a leader of his own Kansas City band ion 1936. THEATER

March 6 – April 3 The West Valley Light Opera Association will open its second production of its 39 th season , “A Chorus Line” at the Saratoga Civic Theater , 13777 Friutvale, Saratoga, on March 6 at 8 p.m. This well-know production is a celebration of the unsung heroes of the American Musical Theater – the chorus dancers – those highly trained performers who backup the stars and make them look good. The San Jose Repertory Theater presents “Rounding Third” directed by San Jose Repertory Associate Artistic Director, John McCluggage . Opening March 26 and running through April 18, this production arrives just in time for baseball season. “Rounding Third” takes a comedic look at the high stakes world of Little League coaching. Don ( Charles Dean ) is a win-at-all-costs coach whose son is the star pitcher. The new assistant coach, ( Remi Sandri ) whose son is the kid who never gets picked, think the point of the game is for everyone to have fun. Their clash of styles and wills makes Rounding Third a humorous, heartfelt and insightful look at fatherhood and sports, and a home run for anyone who's ever played, coached or watched a Little League game. Ballet San Jose presents “Out of Africa,” Flemming Flindt's world premiere, full-length production which draws on Karen Blixen's tales of her years as mistress of a coffee plantation in the high hills of 1920s Kenya--about the elegant Kikuyu, about the hothouse colonial society centered in Nairobi with its intrigues, romances, and adventure;, and above all...about the mighty African landscape. The San Jose Museum of Art presents “Domestic Odyssey” featuring works by a group of national and international artists who use household items – appliances and furniture – as touchstones for their work. See everyday items transformed into the whimsical, seductive and thought-provoking meditations on cultural, social and autobiographical issues. MUSEUM

March 2 – August 15

The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum is opening their "Rare Books of the Rosicrucian Library" exhibit .  This exclusive exhibit will be available to the public through August 15, 2004 and will be free with a museum admission ticket .   The exhibit will feature the Rosicrucian Manifestos which were published in Strasburg, Germany and are comprised of three Rosicrucian documents:  the Fama Fraternitatis , the Confessio Fraternitatis , and the Nuptiae Chymicae (Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreuz) , published in 1614, 1615 and 1616 respectively.  Together, they encompass the major works of the 17th century Rosicrucians.   
   The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum houses the largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts on exhibit in the western United States.  It is located at 1343 Naglee Avenue in San Jose. Come to Rosicrucian Park 1343 Naglee Avenue, when it unveils the Rosicrucian Planetarium on March 19 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.--the exact time of the Spring Equinox.  The Planetarium opening ceremony will include brief remarks from Norman Sperling, the creator of the Mithraic Mysteries star show; Larry Anthenian of San Jose-based Metacrylics Roofing, which sponsored the Planetarium renovation; and Dr. David Ulansey , the author of the book on which the show is based.   Tickets for the opening ceremony, which begins at 9 p.m., are $50 per person with limited seating.  All proceeds will benefit the Rosicrucian Planetarium to help develop future shows exploring the ancient skies.

Catholic Charities' Foster Grandparent Program is looking for persons over age 60 who are willing to give love and attention to children with special needs in the community. Participants must be on a limited retirement income to qualify, be in good physical health and be able to work four hours a day, five days a week. New at the Tech! The Tech Museum of Innovation announces the opening of it new exhibit: Engineer It! Visitors of all ages will have a great time designing boats, buildings, bridges, windmills, and airplanes, and testing their performance in water tanks, earthquake simulators, and wind tunnels. Engineer It! is a highly interactive traveling exhibition that presents science as an open-ended discovery process; there are no write or wrong answers. Every station offers a fun and challenging activity where visitors are encouraged to “think it, build it, and test it.”

Crafters Who Care - Since this group began at the Evergreen Community Center one year ago, the Crafters

have donated over 400 handmade creations to needy children here in San Jose and around the world.  Sponsored by the Silver Creek Church, this group is a fun way for women to connect with each other while doing something worthwhile. Women who like to knit or crochet, and those who would like to learn are invited to join. Beginners are welcome!
