Bay Area children’s musician to perform free concerts
Bay Area children’s musician and songwriter and resident of Willow Glen, David “PapaHugs” Sharpe and the “PapaHugs Band” have teamed up with the San Jose Public Libraries to perform free concerts at local libraries throughout the county.
These children’s concerts, sponsored by the San Jose Public Libraries and FIRST 5 Santa Clara County, include songs that promote a healthy lifestyle through nutrition and exercise. As part of this theme, PapaHugs will be performing songs like “Fit for Learning,” “Friends are Fun,” “Vegetable Parade” and “Let’s Make a Big Yummy Sandwich.”
In addition, he has written and will perform the following songs that deal with bullying and demonstrating how to deal with bullies. Those songs are called “Bully in Your Room” and “Expect Respect” along with dozens of other songs from Sharpe’s current album titled, “All the Things You Dream” and his soon-to-be-released album titled “Great Day for You and Me.”
Here is the schedule of performances from David Sharpe:
Saturday, March 15 at 1 p.m.: Hillview Library
Saturday, April 5 at 2 p.m.: Alum Rock Library
Friday, April 11 at 10:30 a.m.: Rose Garden Library
Tuesday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m.: Tully Library
Wednesday, April 30 at 4 p.m.: Seven Trees Library
“The purpose of these concerts is to provide an opportunity for children of all economic and social backgrounds to enjoy an hour of free music, specifically geared to them, which has positive social and health messages,” says Sharpe. “Music plays such an important role in creating and nurturing a healthy child. The songs that we perform are interactive and focus on movement and verbal skills. They create a sense of community and of course, fun.”
