The evening featured performances of traditional Chinese musical instruments and folk dancing, and fashion shows. The program ended with a song and dance performed by more than 60 Leland student volunteers.
Chun-min Su, the chief officer of Leland Bridge Parents Group, says the funds will be dispersed into various projects and school programs at Leland.
Approximately 380 Leland parents, students, and alumni attended the event. Other attendees included San Jose City Councilmember Nancy Pyle, Leland High School Principal Bob Setterlund, and Leland’s Assistant Principals Paul Yllana and Nancy Dauenhauer.
Next month, Leland Bridge will be recognized by Pyle for its work and service the past six years. Pyle is set to present a $1,500 HP grant to the Leland Bridge to assist with the ongoing improvements to Leland's
stage.
Leland Bridge will also be commended by Mayor Chuck Reed during the State of the City Address on March 7. Reed will present the City of San Jose's Good Neighbor Award to Leland Bridge for its service to the
community.
Leland Bridge Parents Group was founded in 2001. Its members regularly volunteer at school functions, actively liaise with other parent organizations such as Parent’s Club and Leland Foundation, publish a biannual Chinese-language newsletter chronicling school news, and organize the Leland Bridge Night fund-raiser. In the past six years, over $30,000 has been raised and donated to Leland and its affiliated student groups.
