School’s Blue and Gold Auction Feb. 11
Tickets are still available for Leland High School’s premier fund-raiser, the Blue and Gold Auction and Dinner Dance, which will be held next weekend, Feb. 11, at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club.
Leland High School’s Blue and Gold is the school’s major annual fund-raiser, which raises money for both the Booster Club and Parent Club. The net proceeds of the evening’s auction are split evenly between the two clubs. Each year the money is spent in different ways.
The 2005 Blue and Gold Auction netted over $35,000. Proceeds were spent on college scholarships, which included the following awards:
Pat Tillman Award for character and leadership
Raymond Leland Award to the most outstanding male and female athlete in a single sport
Gordon Leland Award to the best all around male and female athlete.
The Booster Club used the 2005 proceeds for new weight room equipment and paid for half of the logo displayed at Tillman Field. The Parent Club uses the auction money for wish lists from the teachers, Almaden Counseling Services, Charger Account Mailing, Grad Night, Career Day, the Senior Brunch and Teacher Appreciation.
The 2006 Blue and Gold event will begin at 6 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and bidding on several silent auction items donated by local businesses and Leland’s sports teams. After dinner there will be entertainment and dancing.
The band Off the Record will get couples out on the dance floor and the silent auction will feature a special celebrity auctioneer. Leland’s students get involved with the auction as well. Auction items will include vacation trips, jewelry, etc. The fund-raising goal for the 2006 net proceeds for Leland High School is at least $40,000.
Tickets are $75 per person. You can use the Web site (www.lelandhigh.org) to order tickets and/or make a cash donation. This year you can donate cash easier this by accepting PayPal transactions.
