Capt. Jack Farmer presented commendation by city of San Jose for 30 years of service

San Jose Police Capt. Jack Farmer was given a commendation for 30 years of “extraordinary” service to the city at the Jan. 23 city council meeting.

Farmer began his career as a rookie midnight patroller in the Almaden Valley and rose through the ranks to acting commander for the city’s Southern Division, which serves over 350,000 residents including those in Almaden Valley. The commendation read in part: “Capt. Farmer has served as an inspiration to his fellow officers and the residents of San Jose through his approachable character, down-to-earth nature, charismatic style of leadership and outstanding knowledge of policing methods; and Capt. Farmer exemplifies dedication, confidence, helpfulness, and humility in light of his countless achievements since his career began 30 years ago.”

Farmer was presented the commendation by Mayor Chuck Reed, District 10 Councilmember Nancy Pyle, Councilmember Judy Chirco, Councilmember Forrest Williams, Councilmem-ber Madison Nguyen and Councilmember Pete Constant, along with their colleagues on the City Council.
