Street Scene: Hidden Creek Court

What do you get when you mix an Almaden Valley cul de sac, oodles of kids and outdoor athletic equipment galore? Well, if you ever really want to find out, all you need to do is drive over to Hidden Creek Court.

Nestled in the gentle hills near Quicksilver Park, without question, the best thing about living on Hidden Creek is company. With 10 houses and over two dozen children occupying the court, there is never a shortage of playmates.

“We counted about 25 kids that live here,” describes Susan Dalton, a mother of three—two boys and a girl. “Most of the kids are boys. They play basketball, baseball, ride bikes and scooters, just about everything.”

Dalton and her husband David moved to Hidden Creek in 1996, after living in the Cambrian area for about 10 years. “We bought this house from Dave’s parents when they retired and moved to Roseville, says Dalton, “This is the house Dave grew up in.”

Dalton explains that it was the community that drew them back to Almaden. “The schools are great and this is a real family-oriented neighborhood,” says Dalton.

Although most of the neighbors are not original owners, Dalton mentions that there are still a few families that have been in there since the homes were first purchased in the 1960s.

In fact, with his wealth of experience in Hidden Creek traditions and lore, Dave has recently instituted an old Hidden Creek tradition—the Fourth of July block party—to an appreciative crowd.”
