ALMADEN AREA CRIME REPORT
1/19, Foot pursuit
Via Monte Drive
Officers responded to a call regarding an auto tampering on Via Monte Drive. Upon arrival, the three suspects exited a second vehicle and fled on foot. Suspect #1, an 18-year-old male, was captured by an officer and suspect #2, a 21-year-old male, and suspect #3, a 17-year-old male, ran into an apartment in the 5600 block of Via Monte Drive. Contact was made at both apartments where the outstanding suspects were located hiding in a locked bedroom with numerous pieces of suspected stolen property. Numerous car stereos were also recovered from an open entrance closet. During this investigation, a stolen vehicle was recovered from a carport on Mesa Drive. An in-field line up confirmed suspect #1 as the driver of that stolen vehicle two days prior to this event. VCET officers identified four of the eight individuals as validated gang members.
1/23, Burglary
1375 Blossom Hill Road, Mervyns
Sometime in the late evening of Jan. 22, a person or persons took a large amount of cash from the safe at Mervyn’s store. The money was discovered missing around 7 a.m. on Jan. 23. The time of theft was determined through security tapes. Investigation is continuing and Mervyn’s loss prevention is investigating as well.
