Car crash claims two trees in front of Almaden Branch Library
At approximately 11:13 a.m. on Jan. 20, an unidentified 30-year-old man is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel of his pickup truck while traveling at an unsafe speed on Camden Avenue near Little Falls Drive.
By the time the white 1996 Chevy S10 came to a stop, it had veered into opposing traffic, careened onto the center median and hit with two trees in front of the Almaden Branch Library.
According to San Jose Police Department Press Information Officer Gina Tepoorten, the driver was taken to Valley Medical Center for treatment of small lacerations and to address complaints of pain in his chest. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
“It looks like he fell asleep,” Tepoorten said. “He went into the opposing lanes and then onto the center divider, where he collided with two trees, causing major damage to his car. There were no other cars involved.”
Tepoorten said no charges were expected to be filed against the unidentified man, but officers recommended issuing him a citation for unsafe speed.
