Snow frosts Mt. Umunhum
Mother Nature painted the hills surrounding San Jose Monday night, and snow frosted Mt. Umunhum to lend a taste of winter to our "temperate" climate. Rain and cold weather plagued San Jose on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with forecasts of showers off and on through the rest of the week possibly throughout the weekend.
Gray skies and fog made mountain views quite scenic from the ground, but roads were treacherous and some highways, such as 17 and Mt. Hamilton Road, were closed until CalTrans could limit icing problems. Even though much of the snow melted quickly on Mt. Umunhum, it still remained an exciting vista, at least from the floor of the valley and especially with the clouds strung low on the scene. Now, shall we discuss Global Warming?
