Got cookies?
By Cadette Girl Scout troop #1395
Special to the Times
Here we come, Walking down the street, Get the happiest looks from,
Everyone we meet! Hey, Hey, we’re the Girl Scouts! And we’ve
got cookies for you. Time to get out your checkbooks, ‘Cause
we’ll be knocking at your door!
Cadette Girl Scout troop #1395 is on the march! Get ready Almaden!
Beginning Jan. 16, we, and 600 more girls scouts of Almaden Valley
will be hitting the sidewalks in our community, knocking on doors,
greeting you with smiles and a cookie order form. We’ll make
phone calls to relatives and distant friends. Order forms will start
showing up at the workplace, as our loyal parents take them to the
office.
The Girl Scout Cookie Sale has been a part of the American culture
for more than 80 years! There is no other way to get your beloved
thin mints (the most popular cookie in America), as well as the
seven other delicious varieties offered this year! When you place
an order for a box of cookies, you are helping Girls Scouts of Santa
Clara County and our own troops in Almaden Valley support numerous
girl programs , events, and service projects throughout the year.
At $3.50 a box, that’s quite a deal!
In addition to the money our troop earns by selling cookies, we
girls earn credits that enable us to attend girl programs and summer
camps. The cookie sale also gives us the opportunity to gain self
confidence, learn goal setting, and increase our skills in project
planning, management, budgeting and teamwork. Just think, at $3.50
a box, you’re making quite an investment in the future!
Alas, if you don’t have a friendly girl scout on your block,
you don’t have to miss out! You can order your cookies by
phone or e-mail and have them delivered by the troop nearest to
you. Just call the Santa Clara County Girl Scout office at (408)
287-4170 to reach the 24-hour cookie hotline, or, e-mail your order
to cookies@girlscoutsofscc.org.
Then, starting Feb. 27, look for Almaden Girl Scouts on weekends
at cookie booths in front of your local grocery and video stores.
Our uniforms may all be different colors, but the Brownie, Junior,
Cadette (that’s us!), and Senior Troops of Service Unit #42-
Almaden Valley, all thank you for your continued support.
