Celebrate the new year with marvelous new and ongoing events at the Vineland Library!
Featured January events at the Vineland Branch Library:

Traditional Russian Folk Tales and Songs. Enjoy wonderful performances in Russian and English by Anna Yevseevna Reznik and Elizaveta Nord. All ages and families are welcome to attend on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. in Vineland’s Community Room.

New in January! Biling-ual story time in English and Spanish. This brand new story time begins Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. There will be stories, songs, finger plays and more. Come join the fun!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. when singer Tim Cain will entertain us for an early Valentine treat.

Events:

- Yoga will be held on Monday nights at 6 p.m. Come relax with a yoga instructor. There is no charge. Please bring your own mat.

- Laughter Yoga returns on Tuesday, Jan. 29 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

- Learn to knit or teach someone else at our Knitting Circle. Open to all ages. No charge. Bring your materials. The circle is open very Saturday at 4 p.m.

- Saturday Sci-Fi Book Group’s selection this month is “1984” by George Orwell. We meet Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. The group usually meets the second Saturday of each month. Visitors are always welcome.

- Adult Mystery Book Club will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 6:45 p.m. We will be reading “Deadly Collection” by Elaine Flinn. All mystery fans are invited to attend the second Wednesday of each month. Visitors are always welcome.

- The Evening Book Discussion Group will meet Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. This month we read “Aloft” by Chang-rae Lee. We usually meet the third Tuesday of each month. Visitors are always welcome.

- Senior Book Discussion Group (50+) meets Thursday, Jan. 24 at 10:15 a.m. “The Other Side of the Bridge” by Mary Lawson will be discussed. The group meets the fourth Thursday of each month. Visitors are always welcome.

- One on One Internet and Computer Help: The library has knowledgeable, helpful volunteers to assist with specific questions. Call (408) 808-3020 to set up an appointment. For people 16 and older.

- The ESL Conversation Club is held every Tuesday at 1 p.m. This one-hour session is a great way to practice English and to make friends at the library. No pre-registration required.

- teensReach meets Friday, Jan. 11 14 at 4 p.m. Teens ages 13-18 are invited to participate in our monthly teensReach meeting. Community service time is earned. Light refreshments are served.

- Wii Wednesdays are every Wednes-day from 3:30-5 p.m. Teens, come experience the new Nintendo gaming sensation!

- Vineland Library’s special Thump program returns every Thursday afternoon from 4-5 p.m. Learn drumming techniques from an experienced musician.

- Vineland’s Anime Club is for teens grades six and up. Watch new anime episodes and trailers and discuss your favorite manga. Tuesday, Jan. 8 from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

- Vineland Fantastic Kids’ Book Club: Saturday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. Do you like to talk about the books you’ve read? Would you like to make new friends? Then join Vineland’s Fantastic Kids’ Book Club, for children in grades two through five. In January our second and third graders will read “The Chocolate Touch” by Patrick Catling. Our fourth and fifth graders will read “The Skull of Truth” by James Coville.

- Third Friday Craft: Friday, Jan. 18 from 4-5 p.m. Let it snow, let it snow. It will be chilly in the library as we make snowflakes and other winter crafts. For children in kindergarten through grade six. All craft materials are supplied.

- Mother Goose Story Time features short rhymes, songs, finger plays and books to create a gentle language enrichment experience to bond children and their care givers. Mother Goose is for infants-2-year-olds and is offered every Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

- Story Time Express is for children of all ages on Wednesdays at 3:30 and Thursdays at 11 a.m.

- Wednesday Preschool Story Time for ages 3-5 is at 11:30 am.

- Family Story Time is held on Saturdays at 11 am.

- Story Time for Twos will be held on Fridays at 10:30 am.

- Chinese/English Story Time is on Wednesday Jan. 16 at 7 pm.

Please note, all San Jose Public Library branches will observe holiday closures on Jan. 20-21.
