Pet
of The Week: “Bailey”
Cute and cuddly is how Mary Bachmeier describes the family’s
cat, Bailey.
“We got him about a year ago from the Humane Society,”
explains Bachmeier. “He was around 1-year-old and he just
looked so sweet and loving that we decided to take him over a little
kitten.”
As the Bachmeier’s only pet, Bailey definitely gets all the
attention he could ever want. “He loves to be petted, he always
purrs, and he gets along great with the kids,” says Bachmeier.
“Sometimes he’ll even sit in your lap, but not for very
long.”
Although Bailey’s napping locale of choice is the foot of
the Bachmeier’s bed, he’s also up for the challenge
of his own version of “laser tag.”
“My son, Nicholas, has a laser pointer and Bailey will chase
after it,” relates Bachmeier. “But when Bailey gets
to the hardwood floors he skids out of control. It’s funny
to watch!”
Bailey’s favorite food is Friskies, and he occasionally likes
a night of the town with his neighborhood buddies, “Nelly”
and “Koby.”
According to Bachmeier, a cat was the best choice for their family
because she didn’t feel that their back yard would fit the
needs of a dog, since they recently had the yard landscaped. “Cats
are easy to take care of, and they don’t need as much space,”
she says. But the real reason Bailey made the perfect pet was simple,
“I’m a cat person,” confesses Bachmeier.
